Hello!Project Empty
PostSubject: Hello!Project   Hello!Project EmptyWed May 30, 2007 4:01 pm

So, what exactly is this thing I always talk about called Hello!Project?

This was copy/pasted directly from http://wiki.theppn.org/Hello%21Project:
The Hello! Project (ハロー!プロジェクト), often shortened to H!P, is the name for a collection of female groups and artists all produced by Tsunku, a member of Sharan Q. Morning Musume is the main group of Hello! Project, with a number of Morning Musume ex-members forming the majority of the solo artists in H!P. Besides the core groups and solo artists that form H!P's line-up, various special units, such as Gomattou, ZYX and ROMANS are formed by mixing these groups and solo artists. So called shuffle units have been formed once a year (usually in the summer) where all the members are put into three different groups. In 2004, there was one super shuffle unit instead of three and in 2006 there have been no shuffle units.

The group is managed by the Up-Front Agency. Almost all Hello! Project artists' recordings are published by Up-Front Works on either the zetima, PICCOLO TOWN, or hachama record labels, while Iida Kaori's Mediterranean styled works are released under the Chichukai label and Maeda Yuki's work is being released under the Rice Music label. Country Musume's and Coconuts Musume's older works were originally released on the Sony record label, and Heike Michiyo's older works were released on Warner Brothers records, but they eventually all moved to zetima.

While there is a range of music and styles covered by the H!P artists, all remain more-or-less firmly in the bubblegum pop category. Morning Musume is a good starting point, but each artist and group offers their own style.

The Shuffle Units are temporary groups usually formed during the summer. The original concept was to shuffle all the members from Hello! Project to form three new groups who would then release three singles at the same time to see which group would sell the most. This idea was probably dropped due to low sales during 2003 when all songs were released on one single. Since then the shuffle units have become more of an annual tradition rather than a contest.

The One Shot Deals only released one or two singles and were never mentioned again, so it can be assumed they're finished.

As for the Uncertain category, it depends of the group. Coconuts Musume and Country Musume consist of only one member each (Ayaka and Satoda Mai, respectively) and need more members to continue functioning as a group. Minimoni and Pucchimoni are "on hiatus" which means they are on a permanent hold until Tsunku decides to revive them. Fujimoto Miki is no longer a solo artist after becoming a member of Morning Musume, but it is expected she will revive her solo career when she eventually graduates. EcoMoni was supposed to be a temporary unit, but have made appearances together from time to time to promote various environmental festivals and events.

Groups I suggest are:
C-ute
Morning Musume
Berryz Kobo
W (Double U)
